Michael Finley's Jersey to Be Retired by University of Wisconsin
A Badger Legend Honored
Michael Finley, one of the most successful basketball players to come out of Wisconsin, will soon be honored by his alma mater. On September 24, the University of Wisconsin announced that Finley's jersey would be retired, a testament to his outstanding athletic career and enduring legacy.
Finley, who played for the Badgers from 1991 to 1995, was a three-time All-American and led the team to the Final Four in 1994. He was also named the Big Ten Player of the Year in 1994 and 1995. Finley's jersey will be the third to be retired by Wisconsin basketball, joining former players Al McGuire and Jim Chones.
Finley went on to have a successful NBA career, playing for several teams including the Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, and Boston Celtics. He was a two-time NBA All-Star and helped the Mavericks reach the NBA Finals in 2006.
The retirement of Finley's jersey is a fitting tribute to one of Wisconsin's greatest basketball players. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of Badgers.
