Austin Peay Coach Resigns After Arrest for Solicitation

Patrick Kugler, the co-offensive coordinator at Austin Peay State University, has resigned following his arrest in an undercover human trafficking operation. Kugler was arrested on Saturday, August 17th, and charged with solicitation of prostitution.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), Kugler was arrested as part of a sting operation targeting individuals seeking sex with minors. The TBI did not release any further details about the investigation or the charges against Kugler.

Austin Peay State University released a statement saying that they are aware of the arrest and that Kugler has resigned from his position. The university said that they are cooperating with the TBI's investigation and that they will not comment further at this time.

Kugler was hired by Austin Peay in January of 2022. He previously served as the offensive coordinator at Presbyterian College and as the quarterbacks coach at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

The arrest of Kugler comes as a shock to the Austin Peay community. He was considered to be a rising star in the coaching ranks and was well-respected by his players and colleagues.
