Ryan Weathers (finger) to start Wednesday
Tampa Bay Rays’ Ryan Weathers is expected to get the start on the mound against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday, May 17th.
The 22-year-old left-hander has a 4.15 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in three starts this season. He has struck out 15 batters and walked six in 17.1 innings.
Weathers was acquired by the Rays from the San Diego Padres in a trade in August 2022. He made 10 starts for the Rays last season, posting a 5.18 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 50.1 innings.
Weathers will be making his first start against the Blue Jays this season.
Toronto has one of the most potent offenses in the American League, so Weathers will have his work cut out for him.
However, he has shown flashes of brilliance this season, and he will be looking to build on that against the Blue Jays.
Weathers has a good chance of success against the Blue Jays if he can command his fastball and changeup.
He also needs to be careful not to leave too many pitches over the plate, as the Blue Jays have a number of power hitters in their lineup.
